Marangu Route is the shortest route to trek Mount Kilimanjaro. The uniqueness of this route to others is the accommodation amenities; it offers a communal Mountain hut/cabin, with beds and mattresses with Services like wash rooms, solar power and pipe water. In addition ascent and descent follow the same root.
The route tends to be busy in July, to September and December to march. Best alternative, to those who trek during raining season.
Climbing Marangu route can be done within 5 and/or 6 days. A six (6) day choice is extremely recommended for better acclimatization on Zebra rock, Horombo hut. An overall success rate of this route is approximately to be 75’s%.
ARRIVAL DAY
Arrivals at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), you will meet African peak safaris office representative, who will transfer you to the hotel. Hotel will provide all necessities. After having a short rest at the hotel, our manager/ guide will visit you for briefing and check your climbing gears and equipment to make sure you are ready for climbing.

Tour Plan
Around 0900hrs, our guide and trekking crew will meet you at hotel and hold a quick briefing and then after, you will take a trip by vehicle to Kilimanjaro National Park- entrance marangu gate (1860m), you will be passing through the villages located on the lower slope of the Mountain. At the gate you will have to do quick formalities and registering with the search rescue service they will ask details like name, Nationality and passport number.
After all process being completed, you will slowly start climbing up to, Mandara Hut, where you will spend the rest of the day, dinner and overnight. Distance from Marangu gate to Mandara hut (2,700M) about up to 4 hiking hours, and the trail is through Mountain rainfall forest. We recommend you to drink enough water to stay hydrated, and rest as much as possible. Consult your guide incase of any unusual situation.

After breakfast at Mandara Hut, the group will depart to state a moderate climb to Horombo hut (3,720M).The trail passes through the short stretch of forest to the base of Maundi crater, and you will have a time to take a short excursion to the rim of the crater. At Horombo hut, you will have a rest, dinner and overnight.

Spend a day and a second night at Horombo. Acclimatization day you can either rest at the huts or take a trek to Mawenzi camp (4,600M) followed by return to Horombo Huts. The extra day not only will help increase your understanding of the mountains weather and altitude but will also improve your chance for uhuru summiting.

Early morning after breakfast at Horombo hut, the group will be trekking to Kibo hut (4700M), passing through the alpine desert habitat. At Kibo hut you will have a hot lunch, rest and early dinner, we recommend you sleep as much as you can, and avoid any strenuous activity.

After long sleep, you will be awake around 01:00am, to start trekking to Kilimanjaro summit: uhuru peak (5,895M). each pair of climber will be accompanied one guide and he will lead you slowly (POLEPOLE) to hike up, passing through Hans Meyer cave to Gilman’s point (5681m), before finishing to Uhuru Peak (5,895m).after successful ascent to uhuru peak you can descend to the nearest glacier if needed, then you will decent back to kibo camp (4700M) and after two hours rest continue to Horombo hut (3720M)

After breakfast, you will descend down using the same trail. At Marangu gate (1,860M) you will have to sign out as you signed in. After that the group will congratulate you and you will also have a chance to share your opinion on guestbook. Lastly we will provide you with honoring certificates at our office, followed by a transfer back to the hotel.
